Aug. 27, 2010: Fall gardening in August is a must

Time to prepare the fall garden, my friends.

Today make sure to check ornamentals for root weevils.

Aug. 27, 1859, the first commercial oil well (and it is not from BP). Edwin Drake drilled the first successful U.S. oil well near Titusville, Pa.

AUg. 27, 2003, Mars made its closest approach to earth in 60,000 years.
